Benxi, a prefecture-level city in Liaoning Province, is the central city in the eastern part of Liaoning Province. It is a comprehensive industrial city mainly engaged in the steel and chemical industries. One of the thirteen larger cities with local legislative power approved by the State Council, it is the central city of the central Liaoning urban agglomeration and the sub-central city of the Shenyang Economic Zone.
